Driving Hope: A Day of Service with Trae Young

Second Helpings Atlanta believes in the power of community to combat hunger and reduce food waste. This week, we partnered with Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young for an inspiring day of service, spreading hope and nutrition ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Trae Young, celebrated for his precision on the court and his commitment to giving back, joined Second Helpings Atlanta on a food rescue route before the holiday. Together, Trae and his team rescued over 800 pounds of surplus food, delivering it to My Sister’s House, a Partner Agency of Second Helpings Atlanta, to provide nourishing meals for those in need. After completing the Food Rescue Route, Trae Young stayed at My Sister’s House to prepare and serve meals for the residents. This act of generosity showcased the incredible impact we can achieve when individuals unite for a shared purpose.

Hunger is a challenge too great for one person to tackle alone. By turning surplus food into opportunities for nourishment, Trae Young and his team not only helped make Atlanta a greener city but also ensured more of our neighbors received the vital support they need to thrive.

Thank you, Trae, for amplifying Second Helpings Atlanta’s mission and inspiring others to take action. Your leadership and generosity show what’s possible when we come together to support our community. Together, we can build a future where no one goes hungry and no food goes to waste. We hope to see you on a Food Rescue Route again soon.
